| Assistant Editor @ Microfinance Focus Microfinance Focus, a niche media agency, seeks an Assistant Editor to join their team in their Bangalore office. Responsibilities: The Assistant Editor should have had at least 3 years of prior experience in managing material for a publication and interested in development journalism. Responsibilities include the determination of article content and direction. Consistency is essential for our monthly issues, and this job will fall primarily to the Assistant Editor to ensure that the main articles follow the theme of the month. Besides that, the Assistant Editor should also have a keen sense of what our readers would enjoy reading, and recommend likewise. As this is a publication majoring in microfinance, knowledge of finance is a must-have for this position. Microfinance Focus aims to always be at the forefront of news in this industry, so strong analytical skills especially relating to finance and social issues will be key to helping us stay ahead. We are thus looking for someone with strong foresight, who can spot newsworthy issues even before they are noticed by others. In the same thread, the Assistant Editors should also have a strong interest in social issues. Specific responsibilities: • Write and/or edit news items for Microfinance News Section. • Write and/or edit news items for Microfinance Online Magazine section. • Monitor multiple sources of news simultaneously. • A knack for writing concise but attention-capturing headlines that will generate readers' interest in our website and newsletter. Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills: • Applicants should have a degree in business or journalism or other-related fields. • Proven experience in daily breaking news environment, • Some experience of writing for web is preferable. • Strong command of written English, able to be concise when bringing across a point • Able to pinpoint our target audience's needs and expectations • Preferably able to work for some hours over the weekend • Keen sense of the small details, but also able to be guided by the big picture. • Strong leadership skills; able to delegate. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize Salary: Negotiable Experience: 3 years above Type of Job: Full Time Work Location: Bangalore Contact +91 9535186668 Microfinance Focus (MF) is an online knowledge platform about microfinance and sustainable development.
