Position Description

COMPANY : Praxeva India Services Pvt Ltd
POSITION TITLE: Senior Systems Administrator
REPORTS TO : CTO
LOCATION : Frazer Town, Bangalore
PACKAGE : Commensurate with skills and experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

Architect, setup and maintain production network and Linux environment. Maintain office
network and environment.

We are looking for a person with extensive experience that has setup Linux production
environments dozens of times before.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement and manage Linux/network systems, including system backup and
recovery.
• Operating System installation and upgrades.
• Troubleshooting software and hardware problems.
• Implement and manage DNS, Proxy Servers, Firewalls and other software.
• Implement and manage system monitoring and task tracking tools.
• Implement and manage remote access solution and other software.
• Set up and maintain configuration of Web servers and databases.
• Contribute to server security, and general site security.


CHALLENGES:

• Setup and manage systems in a highly available, redundant environment.
• Setup and manage backup and recovery procedures.
• Mentor Junior Systems Administrator and help implement and maintain network (in
particular, office network)
• Provide input into the overall Linux environment's design and direction.
• Keep abreast of changing technologies and operational requirements.
• Working with a wide range of people with various technical literacy and adapt to a
dynamic fast paced environment.




KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILL SETS:

Required
• 6+ years experience in Systems/Linux administration (Ubuntu experience preferred).
• Network management skills
• Database setup and management (e.g. MySQL)
• An excellent understanding of Apache, Tomcat, J2EE application servers (e.g. JBoss)
• Understanding of core protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP.
• Scripting Languages (e.g. Perl, sh)
• Understanding of office networks and windows desktop environments
• Good documentation skills
• Excellent communication skills

Desirable
• Familiarity with Apple systems.
• Knowledge of and working with SANs/Cluster environments
